How to Visit Thasos Island

BY FERRY

The fastest route is from Keramoti to Limenas (Thassos Town), with a journey time of just 35 minutes and frequent sailings, every half an hour during the summer, this is the preferred route of many visitors to Thassos.
Alternatively, there is also a ferry boat service from Kavala to Prinos, this route has a journey time of 1 hour and 15 minutes and a maximum of 5 sailings per day.
The distance from Limenas is 12 kilometers and from Prinos, 6.5 kilometers.

BY AIRPLANE

Thassos does not have its own airport but benefits from the nearby Kavala (Megas Alexandros) airport, the journey from the airport to the port of Keramoti is a short one. Many tourists also choose to fly to Thessaloniki airport (International Airport Makedonia), this is the second largest airport in Greece and benefits from many budget airlines. From there you can take a bus to the coach station, it is a 2-hour KTEL coach ride to Kavala, or you can get a car and drive to either Kavala or Keramoti ports.

BY ROAD

The Odos Ignatia (E90) runs across the north of Greece, from Igoumenitsa to Turkey and passes both Kavala and Keramoti.

Stunning Beaches

In a place famed since antiquity for the maritime skills of its inhabitants, you can find several places to either rent a sailing boat or book a boat tour and a multitude of good moorings in the vicinity of the coast.

If you charter your own boat you don’t have to confine yourself just to Thassos, you could take a trip across to the Athos peninsular of Halkidiki which is the ancient home of several Orthodox monasteries or visit nearby islands.
